300 Series Plastic Recorders

These instruments were the first high quality plastic recorders with curved windways to be made available; the alto model was first introduced more than twenty years ago and has withstood the test of time rather well. The external profiles bear a very close resemblance to the Solo recorders of the late Hans Coolsma. These models, which are equally useful as solo or ensemble instruments, offer decent quality at very attractive prices. Please note that the model 311 tenor in this series has been discontinued by the maker; the model 211 tenor listed above is identical acoustically, but has a plainer, more modern profile. These instruments are offered as is without any custom tuning.

500 Series Plastic Recorders

The 500 series is this maker's premium series of plastic consort instruments. Made in six sizes from piccolo to bass, they provide better intonation and more precise joint fitment than most competing instruments and have a neutral, clear tone quality which blends well. The bocal blow bass recorder may be easily converted to a direct blow instrument with the additional of the direct blow cap.

We also offer two Sagamore Special packages consisting of one of each size piccolo through tenor recorder and a choice of direct or bocal blow bass at a bargain consort price. All of the instruments in this series are custom-tuned in our workshop at no additional charge.

700 Series Plastic Recorders

The 700 series soprano and alto recorders, patterned after original instruments by the early 18th century Dutch maker Richard Haka, are the first true baroque reproduction plastic recorders to be produced by any maker. They have a rich, reedy, complex tone quality which renders them most useful as solo instruments for the late baroque solo and ensemble literature but less ideal for recorder ensembles. They are rather sensitive to articulation and therefore best suited for more advanced players. The Haka soprano and alto are available either in brown plastic with white imitation ivory plastic trim, or in a palisander woodgrain plastic finish. The intonation of these models leaves much to be desired, but our custom tuning procedures make them capable of being played well in tune.
